Early warnings
=
better outcomes

Over the years, our researchers noticed that communities with early warnings of fossil fuel projects are the most successful in opposing them. Unfortunately, they are often only informed of fossil fuel projects late in the “development” process, when it’s too late to effectively oppose them.

That’s why we created the “Fossil Fuel Warnings” programme and this site- to proactively inform local groups and communities as early as possible so that they can fight back. By signing up for notices, you’ll be the first to know about any new fossil fuel warnings for your area.

Where does our data come from?

Close to 300 websites are scanned every weekday looking for new announcements of oil, gas, and coal concessions, auctions, or sales, in addition to new infrastructure projects. We use AI agents with a custom “harness”(set of tools and instructions) to build a list of possible announcements, which are then reviewed and checked by a human researcher before being published here with direct source links.

We scan government websites, fossil fuel industry news sites, corporate postings, and national newswires across languages and continents. We always include a publicly accessible citation link for each post.
